About the founder
Written by Anton Løschenkohl a close friend and confidante, this section shares a glimpse into the heart and soul behind our yoga community.
Chris's journey has not been an easy one. From a challenging upbringing to various struggles throughout her life, she has faced each obstacle with resilience and grace. Yoga, for Chris, has been as fundamental to her existence as breathing—a vital part of her life that sustains and centers her.
Chris is a person who shies away from the spotlight, preferring not to make things about herself. Her humility and genuine care for others shine through in how she manages the studio and interacts with each member. It's her belief that the strength of a community comes from everyone contributing, not from a single leader dominating the space.
She created this studio with the vision of it being a collective endeavor where the energy and spirit of the group elevate the experience for all. Chris is deeply committed to nurturing this space as a sanctuary where everyone supports each other and shares in the joy and tranquility that yoga brings.
A different approach
As someone who has experienced many sessions led by Chris, I can personally attest to the unique and freeing atmosphere she fosters in her yoga classes. Chris believes that yoga is a space where you can let out what needs to be released—be it your breath, any sounds your body makes, or emotions you carry. It's a sanctuary where everyone is encouraged to move in their own way, express themselves freely, and do so without judgment.
In her power flow sessions, Chris expertly guides everyone, allowing participants to engage at their own skill level while recognizing each individual's efforts. It’s not uncommon to hear her acknowledge the variety in the room with a touch of humor: "I see a Reverse Dragonfly Split, a Sleeping Yogi pose, and something I don’t quite know what it is, but it looks badass and difficult to master."
These sessions are a dynamic blend of intensity and holistic wellness, infused with guided meditations that remind us even in the midst of a challenging sequence, to let go and remember that no one is perfect. Life is a continual journey of mastering these skills, and in Chris's classes, everyone progresses together, supported by her belief that yoga is as much about personal expression as it is about physical practice.
The vison
When we talked about making this piece on her, Chris expressed concerns about the current marketing trends in yoga, which she feels overly sexualize the practice to gain engagement on social media. She firmly rejects this approach; for her, yoga is an art form that should focus on genuine expression and the joy of movement.
In her studio, you won't find typical yoga poses presented as soft-core glamour shots. Instead, Chris highlights the real essence of yoga through pictures that capture the artistry of movements, the humor of unexpected facial expressions, and the sometimes awkward transitions. She places a particular emphasis on the feet, believing them to be the foundation of all yoga poses. Showcasing feet in various positions, Chris demonstrates her true belief in what yoga should be—away from the 'look at me' mentality and closer to a genuine connection with one’s body and spirit.
Despite her modest demeanor, I think Chris is a much greater leader than she gives herself credit for. Her humility might prevent her from recognizing this, but her leadership style—reluctant yet impactful—truly defines what makes a great leader. It’s not about craving power; it’s about wielding it wisely and with necessity, something Chris does with natural grace and effectiveness.
Her approach not only challenges the norm but also guides others to find their own path in yoga and life, without ever needing to stand in the spotlight
